The story of K.E…

It has all started with Theatre…or at least it’s become strong and relevant for life there. The theatre company was called : Monteverdi Birkózókör (Monteverdi Wrestling School). The name came from one of the training exercises, which was wrestling by the music of Monteverdi.

Fantastic experience! We have been experimenting with the voice – uttering special sounds, listening to each other, with the result of being surprised by the unknown territories of ourselves. We have produced three very successful performances. After the company has spilt, I have workesd with András Jeles (otherwise film director as well) for a few more times.

In those years I have already started to collect my songs, my ideas, my melodies, which I showed to Csaba Hajnóczy, who liked them, so we have founded the group :

KISS ERZSI MUSIC

I also composed music for films, theatre and dance performances. In three of the dance performances directed by Gábor Goda (Artus) I am singing and playing as well. In one of them I am on a huge stand in an extremely long, dark dress, like an ancident goddess, and in

the other I am in a geisha dress – reporting rapping and singing.

I have worked for state theatres, too. I composed music for classical plays, for two performances directed by Gábor Máté and Árpád Schilling, produced in Kaposvár, Csiky

Gergely Theatre. Having worked together with one of the best actors of the country : Andor Lukáts, I was invited to teach in his class at the Theatre Academy.

Meanwhile teaching and composing music for theatre performances, a newly found group : ERIK SUMO BAND invited me to be their constant guest – performer.

Two more new challenges I have met lately : composing music for Hungarian (!) poems, and for puppet productions.

Having finished my fourth CD with K.E.M., I have founded a very special new group, called : KISS ERZSI PANCHAN with two percussionists and four female singers. We do not play often, but it is not an overstatement if I say, that all these occasions are real collective feasts with our audience.
