Zoltán Farkas I was born in 1962 Budapest. I play the guitar since I'm eight. I graduated at Bartók conservatoire. I became the bass guitarist in Kontroll Csoport by chance in 1981, cos they already had a guitarist and it made a big influance on my music career. I started to write lyrics here (e.g. The House of Fear) and compose songs for movies, and since I have participated in several bands as a solo guitartist or bass guitarist even sometimes I played other instruments as well. After a short time I spent with Sziámi-Sziámi and Balkan Tourist, in 1987 I started to perform with my own band called Keleti Fény, our first concert we had in Amsterdam and then in Paris. Thus I met Rhys Chatham a post minimalist composer in New York whose guitar band in Paris I played till 1994. I also worked with Andy DeGroat coregrapher (Andy DeGroat is the partner of Philip Glass and Bob Wilson e.g. in „Einstein on the Beach”.) on his grand ballet show titled Back home in 1994 I catched the last period of the underground club "Tilos az á" and I could play my new songs of Keleti Fény and I performed in my duet of drums and guitar. The next one and a half years I was the solo guitarist of the band VHK, then came Kampec Dolores and EGY KISS ERZSI ZENE, where I played the bass guitar, and Vajdovich took it over from me, it was ten years ago... In Tibor Szemző directed program based on a Hamvas drama"Gordius Knot" I played the guitar. After a short break my music style changed to eclectic with the band Magura (the former Napra) and Kistehén (Yes, I was the bass guitarist on the Cyber Kid album.). After an Irén Lovász performance called Felleghajtó I have played in early Eric Sumo Band (again with Erzsi!) and took part in the last period of Amorf Ördögök as guitarist. In my life it is the third time I meet Erzsi and this one seems to be a very fruitful collaboration. |
